Green Conversion of Coal Fly Ash into Soil Conditioner: Technological Principle and Process Development

چکیده

White mud is residue discharged during the acid method in aluminum extraction process from coal fly ash, and this material harmful to environment. The implementation of an environmentally friendly valuable way use white a key factor restricting commercial application ash alumina technology. An analysis revealed following: (1) it was highly enriched SiO2 (70–80%) while concentrations acid-soluble elements, such as Na, Al, Fe, some hazardous heavy metals, including Pb Cr, were significantly lower than raw ash; (2) approximately 80% had relatively high reaction activity because foregoing Al-extraction treatment. Through ingenious green chemical process, complete conversion into silicon–calcium fertilizer (SCF) achieved under very mild conditions (approximately 100 °C atmospheric pressure). Waste liquor totally recycled, no secondary solid waste generated. SCF available silicon content (ASC) 35%, higher standard (20%). Converting them soil conditioners or ecological remediation materials with lowest possible energy consumption pollution may be most promising approach for future disposal aluminosilicate industrial wastes.

The respiratory toxicity of coal fly ash

The aim of this study was to compare the relative respiratory toxicity of CFA samples obtained from three Chinese coal-burning power stations to CFA obtained from a UK coal-burning power station; both bulk and respirable PM10 samples were tested. In order to elucidate CFA toxicity, a multi-disciplinary approach was taken, thereby considering geochemical aspects of the fly ash as well as biochem...

Biofunctional Characteristics of Lignite Fly Ash Modified by Humates: A New Soil Conditioner

Fly ash superficially modified with humic substances from the Megalopolis lignitic power plant was prepared and evaluated for agricultural uses. UV-vis spectrophotometry and IR spectroscopy revealed that fly ash shows high sorption efficiency towards humic substances. Adsorption proceeds stepwise via strong Coulombic and hydrophophic forces of attraction between guest and host materials. Langmu...

Health aspects of coal fly ash

Employees of coal-fired power stations and people living nearby as well as those involved in the shipment and processing of coal fly ash can be exposed to coal fly ash (pulverised fuel ash or “PFA”). An extensive research program was carried out in order to map such exposure and its effects. Particle size distribution, chemical composition, quartz, radioactivity, emission factors and fugitive d...

Production geopolymer materials by coal fly ash

Coal ash is the main waste from power plant. It is estimated that the consumption of the coal for power plant will increase to 240 million tons each year and the coal ash wastes will produce more than 2 million tons per year. Although the utilization of coal fly ash can be reached 74.1%, large amount of coal fly ash and bottom ash still cannot be utilized. The purpose of this research is to dev...

Distribution of trace elements in coal and coal fly ash and their recovery with mineral processing practices: A review

Today coal is among the most important energy sources. In order to meet the world's energy demands, low-calorie lignite with a high ash content is generally used in the large capacity coal-fired thermal power plants. As a result of coal firing, wastes such as fly ash, slag, and flue gas are also produced. Subsequently, toxic trace elements within coal are transferred to wastes such as slag, fl...
